Police investigate armed
robbery in Bayswater. September 3 Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding
an armed robbery in Bayswater last night. Investigators have been
told two men entered an adult store in Scoresby Road about 11.20pm.
One man was armed with a large knife and the other with a

before they stole cash, cigarettes and several small weighing
scales. The bandits fled the scene from the rear car park down
Scoresby Road in a white V8 Holden commodore sedan. The pair is

T-shirts wrapped around their faces and sunglasses in an attempt to
disguise their appearance. Anyone with information regarding the
robbery is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit

community to have a say on response plans.August 30 The Whitehorse local community has the
opportunity to have their say on two important plans for the
municipality. Whitehorse Mayor Councillor Bill Pemberton said
Council was seeking community input into the Draft Climate Change
Adaptation Plan and the Draft Emergency Management Plan. ?We need
to work out how we can better identify, adapt and deal with climate
change locally as we are already experiencing some impacts,? Cr
Pemberton said. ?We also need to be prepared for other incidents
such as major transport emergencies or chemical spillage,? Cr
Pemberton said. Full report:http://www.whitehorse.vic.gov.au/Latest-News.html?ItemID=280
Crossings left
unmanned by cash crisis. 28 August weather and a lack of younger apCOLD plicants has led to a
shortage of suburban school crossing supervisors. Councils are
being forced to plug the gaps with other staff, but many crossings
are unattended. State Government finance for the so-called
lollipop program is also a major issue as some councils step up a
campaign for more cash. Despite the undemanding hours and
workload, several councils are struggling to attract crossing
supervisors. City of Boroondara local laws manager Michael
Somerville said mainly older people were interested in the job that
pays about $16 an hour for two shifts a day. "The fact that
they're exposed to the weather elements is one of the downsides," he
said. Source: Herald Sun
